Lastest Skincare Purchases

Having had oily skin in my early teens, I am glad that as I'm coming close to entering my twenties, the condition and appearance of my skin has greatly improved. My skin has gone from being an overspilling oil factory to a bearable combination medium.

With that being said, I do get imperfections, sometimes because of the over production of oil, however I believe that this is hormonal and may have something to do with a slight lactose allergy, but more on that later.

I am always on the hunt for products which will improve the skins radiance, prevent and remove blackheads, hydrate the skin and keep spots at bay.

I was at my local pharmacy when I came across the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo and I instantly remembered how much I used to love this product a few years ago. I had stopped purchasing this when I started using the Proactiv product range, so I decided to take this baby home and rekindle our love affair.

Being a fan of the Balance Me. product range (cleanser review here) with its use of natural ingredients, I decided to give the Good Things Miracle Mattifier Moisturiser a try and my oh my does this stuff smell amazing! The black currant smell is quite strong and leaves your skin smelling amazing all day long!

A repurchase of the Clean and Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser was needed. I don't use this to removing my make up as I use the cult product Bioderma Crealine H2O Solution for that. I use this on cleansed skin before bed to breakdown anything within my pores that can lead to blackheads.

Having heard so much about BB Creams in the last few months,  I decided to give the La Roche Posay BB Cream a whirl. La Roche Posay is a favourite brand of mine that usually does not disappoint, and with this BB Cream, La Roche Posay have done it again for me.

I'm hoping that these products will keep up my skin's good behaviour as we enter the warm summer months! Remember kids, always wear your SPF!

Schwarzkopf GLISS hair repair Liquid Silk Gloss Wonder-Serum-Spray

This is a leave in treatment which you spritz into towel dried hair. It claims to repair inside the hair cell. As far as that goes, I'm not sure if it really works, however, it makes your hair super shiny without weighing it down. I did like this product, however, I much prefare the Got2Be Smooth 'n Chic Smoothing Lotion or the Ultimate Repair + Gloss Treatment, both by Schwarzkopf.

Schwarzkopf GLISS hair repair Ultimate Repair + Gloss Treatment

With liquid keratin, this is a protein leave in treatment which helps to rebuild the structure of the hair from extreme damage while also providing shine. When I had my ombré hair, this product was a life saver! Ombré can really damage your hair due to the use of bleach or peroxide. This product just injected shine into my hair while also repairing it. The trick with this product is NOT to use if often as too much protein is not good for your hair because the same proteins which repair your hair can also break it down when in excess.

Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure hair therapy Sun Guardian

This is just an oil with an SPF of 4 which helps protect your hair from sun damage. I did like this product but I'm hoping to find something with higher SPF than this seeing that I live in country which is not lacking in the sunshine department.

Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser

An oil free blackhead clearing cleanser which promises "results from day 1". I wouldn't say that results are visible after day one but results are visible in a short amount of time. I like using this on my chin, nose and forehead to help breakdown excess gunk inside pores which can lead to blackheads.

UltraClear Acne Cream

Amazing product!! This cream contains salicylic acid and tea tree oil, both of which help to dry any pimples thoroughly! it does have a very strong smell however it works! I like applying it at night after I've cleansed my face. In the morning, any developing  pimples are  greatly reduced and it also helps the buggers fade away much quicker.

The Body Shop Hand Cleanse Gel

This sanitizer smells amazing! Obviously, if you don't like the coconut smell, you won't like this because the scent is pretty powerful and it does linger. This is the perfect sized sanitizer for carrying in bags and for taking on board airplanes.

Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream

I love Sudocrem because it is such a multiuse product. I love using this on any crusty spots (ew! i know) at night before I go to bed. It also use this on my elbows if they're getting a little dry. I usually apply the cream on my elbow, and use a sock cut at both ends to cover the area. By morning smooth and soft elbows are back! Voila!

Dr Nick Lowe Oil Control Day Cream and Spot Gel

The spot gel is simply the best (BETTER THAN ALLLL THE REST) while the Oil Control Day Cream does exactly what is promises! It helps regulate sebum production and protects and moisturises. This is also antiblemish so it simultaneously prevents any development of imperfections.

Avon Ideal Shade Foundation in Natural Beige

This foundation comes in a 25ml pot. The packaging is great and feels really expensive. The foundation itself is a mousse which has a lovely texture and blends effortlessly into the skin for a very natural matte finish of medium coverage.

And that's it for this Empties blogpost! Hope this post was of interest and helpful in some way.

Strawberry Fest!

Two weekends ago the Annual Mgarr Frawli ( that's the Maltese word for strawberry) Fest was held. Here, in the small village of Mgarr, strawberry lovers from all over the island gathered up to celebrate the existence of this delicious succulent fruit!

Numerous stalls were set up and everything from strawberry tequila to strawberry candles could be found! There were stands selling strawberry milkshakes and smoothies, strawberry cakes, pies, muffins and chocolate covered strawberries. They also had a strawberry, bacon and blue cheese salad which my mum loved and strawberry sushi aka frushi.

It was a beautiful day and the turn up was great! Everything was freshly made and tasted delicious! Do you have any similar festivals in your home towns? Are you a strawberry fan like myself? :) Until next time,

I Love Spring Tag!

Because Spring is my favourite season and I definitely do heart it, I decided to do the I love Spring tag which was started by the lovely Ingrid aka Missglamorazzi on YouTube. So without further ado...

1. Favorite spring nail polish?

These nail polishes were actually purchased a few years ago from Australia and they are my "Ulta 3" nail varnishes in Spring Blossom, which is a lovely pastel yellow and Spring Shower, a pastel blue. I always find myself turning back to these two lacquers during Spring time. (Featured above)

2. What is your must-have lip color this Spring?

My ultimate lip colour this spring is the Estée Lauder Pure Color lipgloss in number 11 - Passion Fruit Shimmer. It has a lovely scent and consistency. It's not too sticky and it provides a lovely shimmer to your lips. I love wearing it over my Rimmel lipstick in the shade 130 Daring which is a subtle coraly shade. (Featured above)

3. Show us your favourite Spring dress!

My favourite Spring dress is a maxi dress which I bought off of eBay however, it is by Atmosphere which is based inside Primark. I love it because it is a light material with a beautiful large floral print and it would look great with a denim jacket over it. (Featured above)

4. What's your favorite flower?

I think my favourite flowers would have to be Hydrangeas because they're just so pretty!

5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory?

In Malta it tends to start getting too warm for scarves during Spring, however,  when it's breezy day I love wearing my green and brown vintage scarf with butterfly print which was given to me by my mother (Featured above). My favourite accessory is a floral headband from accessorize.

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)

I am most excited about trying bright orangey coral lips this Spring and fashion wise, floral print is always something I look forward to wearing.

7. Favorite spring candle?

This one's a no brainer for me it's the Garden Sweet Pea candle from Yankee Candle. Uggghh the smell is just AMAZING! I kid you not, you will have a nosegasm. (Featured above)

8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?

One of my all time favourite perfumes ever is the Vera Wang - Princess perfume and I just love wearing it all year round especially during Spring. (Featured above)

9. What is spring like where you live?

Spring is so so lovely here in Malta! The sun is shining and the birds are chirping and butterflies have emerged from their cocoons! You can lay out and get your tan. There's a slight breeze which is perfect because you can still wear light cardis especially since it still gets rather chilly in the evenings.

10. What's your favorite thing about spring?

I love how sunshine makes everyone happier! And everyone gets excited that summer is in its way! And baby ducks! I love how there are so many little baby animals being born!

11. Are you a spring cleaner?

I am a year round cleaner haha I have a little with of an OCD with rearranging things and keeping everything organized and it calms me down however, at the moment I'm so busy with studying that I don't have time to reorganize and rearrange everything.

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?

Sadly no :( I wish I did however I'm sitting for my A Levels in a month's time and I must study study study! I am looking forward to planning multiple summer vacations though :D

Gozo Day Trip

Living on such a densely populated island, life can sometimes become pretty overwhelming, especially on D-Day. So after I voted in my locality, I decided to head up to the island of Gozo with my parents.

There was a hefty queue of cars for the ferries since many Maltese citizens were going up to vote - or, moreover, to get away from the celebrations the day after. However, once in Gozo all was as expected! Minimal traffic and a wonderful breath of fresh air. Gozo, especially during the winter months, is a very serene and quiet island where some of the most wonderful views and scenery can be found here.

During our short trip, we headed to Arkadia to get a little bit of shopping done. We then headed across the road, over to Mojo's for a bite to eat. The the small diner has a lovely homey atmosphere where they serve the most delicious homemade food! I chose to have the carrot and ginger soup as a starter and a salmon and egg baguette which was served with crisps and couscous as my main course. The serving size was pretty large and since I had my soup as a starter I left my dad to finish off my main. However, both were extremely delicious and I recommend the restaurant to anyone who is in the nearby location.

After we filled our bellies we drove down to the harbour where we caught a ferry back home. The weather had changed from warm and splendid to dreary and rather chilly. On the way back, looking down into the ocean I spotted loads of jellyfish floating in the water! Not a good sign for summer! But that was it for the day, we shared lots of laughs together and it's always great to get a break from everyday life, even if its only for a couple of hours. Until next time,

Beauty Haul

During a day trip to Gozo we headed to Arkadia where I made a few purchases along with a few things which I had ordered from Beauty Bay who also gave me a free sample of the Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Shampoo and Conditioner along with a small satchet of Wella Velvet Amplifier which is a style primer. I'm looking forward to trying a style primer as I haven't really ever tried one. The other products which can be seen in the image above are:

Alpha HTriple Action Cleanser, Micro Cleanse Exfoliant, and the Liquid Gold Smoothing and Perfecting Mask which I'll hopefully write a review about so watch this space :) haha

Essence 'Colour and Go' Nail Varnishes in 3 beautiful shades - 138 L.O.L (Lime), 128 Let's Get Lost (Turquoise) and a deep blue who's name/number I cannot seem to find. I think these will look lovely this spring and they're only 1.70!!

Catrice Cosmetics Nail Varnishes, one is from the Ultimate Nail Lacquer range it is number 670 "It's Rambo No. 5" and this a lovely khaki shade. I also bought the C01 "No Smoke Without Fire" which is from the Million Styles Effect Top Coat range. And what this is is basically a top coat which adds a subtle smokey finish to any other shade.

The Body Shop Liquid Eyeliner I was always told lasts for agggeesss and doesn't smudge so I'm really looking forward to trying this out! I've found that a lot of the MAC liquid eyeliners that I've tried do tend to smudge especially on hot summer days in Malta's climate :( *sigh*

Tangle Teezer HOORAH! I finally got my hands on this baby and it's purple! I'm loving it!

S Factor "Serious" Conditioner - I LOOOOVVVEEE the S Factor Lusterizer which I've been using for months now so I decided to by this intensive conditioner which I am  loving so far!

I also made a trip to my local pharmacy where I bought another much needed Royal Enhance Foundation Brush which looks a little something like this. YAY!

That's it for blog post! Stay tuned for any reviews and if there are any products you would recommend to me I would seriously love that! Also if you've had a bit of a splurge lately I would love to see what you've bought cause I'm nosey like that! Until next time :)

balance Me. Skin Balancing Cleanser Review.

The past couple of weeks have been somewhat stressful on my skin and it has retaliated! A major breakout was JUST what I needed to kickstart the weekend! Sigh. I have combination skin and at the moment it's having a difficult time trying to adapt to the changes in weather. The breakout dilemma was what drove me to swap my beloved Bioderma cleanser for the balance Me. daily essentials pure skin face wash. HALLELUJAH!

"Enjoy benefits of balancing spruce knot extract, anti-oxidant rich rice bran oil and sense-awakening frankincense, grapefruit and ylang ylang oils. Allow wash to dissolve make up and daily grime to achieve a balanced, clean complexion without stripping away your skin's natural moisture levels.''

Wow! I found this miracle worker amongst my stash of products that I've been meaning to test out. My breakout included the appearance of blackheads, oily patches and spots which turned scabby. To sum it all up my skin was lifeless, dull and blemished.

This product is 98.8% of natural origin which makes this product even more appealing to me. The smell is a citrus-y fresh clean grapefruit smell which lingers slightly on the skin and it took me a while to get used to. It has a pleasant consistency when rubbed onto the skin and a little goes a long way. Once I rinsed my face with lukewarm water and patted it dry using a face cloth, I immediately felt refreshed. I found that my skin felt more balanced without feeling a dire need to moisturize (as some face washes leave you feeling). After I followed up with my Bioderma Miscellaire Solution and to my surprise there was no trace of make up left on my cotton ball. Basically this product does all that it promises!

A week into incorporating this product into my routine and I can see the results clearly! Most of the damage had been erased and a radiant youthful appearance was restored. All I have left are a few fading blemishes. I was most impressed by the extent to which this product lifted make up off of the face. I'm looking forward to trying more of the balance Me. line of face care products in the future.
